•  Batarekh (dried cod’s roe – famous in Sicily, North Africa, Greece under
  similar names – bottarga, avghotarakho) from the fish shops in Bab el Louq
  on Mansour St, Downtown Tawabel

•  Spices from the Attar (the spice seller outlets) in any of the residential
  neighbourhoods

•  Rock crystal objects from Asfoor in the modern City Stars shopping mall -
  (look out for the tiny crystal sibhas -“rosaries”/worry beads) which drip
  through the fingers like tiny drops of rain)

•  Cotton and linen clothes made by Mobaco, and Newman, from their outlets
  all over town, but also in the Marriott Zamalek.

•  Cheap and cheerful clothes from the Benetton outlets, again, all over town

•  Fustok jeans, in Zamalek, on Al Mansour Mohammed St.

•  Jewellery from Samal Nakhan

•  Handmade chocolate with hazel nuts from the historic old Simmonds pastry
  shop on 26th July, just down from Maison Thomas on the opposite side of
  the road.  Good hot chocolate, coffee, and lahm bi ajeen (Arabic pizzas) too,
  for a quick snack!
