Hanging Out
Cafes, bars, cool locations to wander about in

True Isloo-Insiders hang at home(s), or in selected cafes such as the Rakaposhi in the Serena Hotel, located near Constitution Avenue, which has amazing pastries, and is a tranquil escape from officialdom, in the comparative luxury of what passes for a 5-star hotel; or Khaas Café (open for lunches only) in the luscious greenery of residential F6/2, which combines the charm of an old Islamabad house with great food and a good art gallery.

Women don’t wander – except in groups, and in shopping areas. Or (again not solo) up the walking trails of the Margalla Hills.

(“Tor’s Bar” is actually THE in-place but only open to (seriously) In-Siders so cannot be quoted further here! But drop ChI an email if you want to get in on the list…..)

Various embassies (French, Canadian, US, UK, UN) all have their own clubs (members & guests only) but ChI’s tend to do their own thing…..

When tired of shopping, stop off in Kohsar Market for a Gloria Jean’s coffee (the authentic Australian franchise), or at Mocca, an up market “grown up” café.

And finally, catch some culture and drop into Tanzara Gallery, for the opening of the new Raja Changez Sultan exhibition (November 30 – Dec 4, from 11.00 am - 6.00 pm), Tanzara Gallery, H no.14, Street no.12, F-7/2, Islamabad.  Tel: 051-, 2650840, 0300 8554660.
